How we research and write

SkinCabin is independent, evidence-led, and free to read. No sponsorships, no paid placements, no brand influence over what gets recommended.

It's written and researched by Sandy Naidu.

What we check before publishing

We look for the strength of the evidence, not just its existence.

Most skincare claims have a study behind them. That isn't the same as being established. Where the evidence is strong, we say so. Where it's thin, we say that too — and where researchers genuinely disagree, we say that rather than picking a side.

That principle drives the rest:

What we won't do

No sponsored content. Brands cannot pay to be featured, reviewed favourably, or ranked higher. There is no arrangement under which that becomes possible.

No diagnosis. This site is written by someone who reads the research, not a doctor. Where a question needs medical judgement, we say so and point you to someone qualified.

No advice on what's safe in pregnancy. Suitability depends on circumstances a website can't weigh up. We'll always tell you to ask your doctor, midwife or pharmacist.

No scare tactics. Fear sells skincare. We'd rather you bought less.

Sources

We work from peer-reviewed research, dermatology bodies, and regulatory guidance. Where a claim rests on a specific finding, we link to it.

We don't cite other blogs. If we can't trace a claim to a primary source, it doesn't go in.

Money

Some links are affiliate links, and they're disclosed. Commissions never affect rankings, scores or what we recommend. The product finder scores on ingredients, and it doesn't know which products pay.

Corrections

We get things wrong. When we do, we fix the page and update the date rather than quietly editing it.

If you spot an error, tell us at hello@skincabin.com. Corrections from readers with relevant expertise are especially welcome.

Updates

Skincare guidance changes. Every page carries the date it was last updated, and we revisit older articles when the evidence moves.
